A Marillion brit rockegyüttes, amelyet 1979-ben alapítottak Aylesburyben, és amelynek zenéje a post-punk és a klasszikus progresszív rock elemeit ötvözi. A nyolcvanas évek kereskedelmileg legsikeresebb neo-prog formációja.
A Clutching at Straws című album 1987. június 22-én jelent meg a Sanctuary Records kiadónál, mint a zenekar második konceptalbuma. A történet egy Torch nevű íróról szól, aki lassan az alkoholizmus rabságába kerül, miközben szembenéz életével. Ez egyben az utolsó stúdióalbum, amelyen az eredeti frontember, Fish énekel — következő évben elhagyta az együttest. A 23 dal között szerepel az Incommunicado, a Warm Wet Circles, a Sugar Mice, valamint alternatív verziók és demók, amelyek a zenekar utolsó felvételeit rögzítik Fish-sel. Bár az album kereskedelmileg nem érte el elődje, a Misplaced Childhood sikerét, tizenöt hétig szerepelt a brit slágerlistán.
A felvételen öttagú felállás működött közre: Fish (ének), Steve Rothery (gitár), Mark Kelly (billentyűk), Pete Trewavas (basszusgitár) és Ian Mosley (dob).
