Az Unanimated egy svéd death metal együttes, amelyet 1988-ban alapítottak Stockholmban, és a melodikus death metal műfajában tevékenykedik, black metal elemekkel. A korai demók után az együttes a svéd underground metal színtér részévé vált.
Az In the Forest of the Dreaming Dead az együttes debütáló albuma, amelyet 1993-ban adott ki a Pavement Music kiadó. Az album 11 dalt tartalmaz, és a melodikus death metal korai példái közé tartozik, egyesítve a death metal keménységét atmoszférikus elemekkel és dallamos gitárszólamokkal. CD formátumban jelenik meg. A pozitív kritikák ellenére az album underground tipp maradt, részben a kisebb kiadó és a death metal iránti csökkenő kereskedelmi érdeklődés miatt a kilencvenes évek közepén. A kiemelkedő dalok közé tartozik a Blackness of the Fallen Star, a Fire Storm és a címadó In the Forest of the Dreaming Dead.
Az album megjelenésekor az együttest Jojje Bohlin, Micke Jansson, Daniel Lofthagen, Jonas Mellberg, Peter Stjärnvind és Jocke Westman alkották.
