A Black Sabbath brit heavy metal együttes, amelyet 1968-ban alapítottak Birminghamben, és a műfaj úttörőjének számít. Az együttes olyan albumokkal definiálta a heavy metalt, mint a Black Sabbath (1970), a Paranoid (1970) és a Master of Reality (1971).
A The Dio Years című válogatásalbum 2007-ben jelent meg a Warner Bros. Records kiadónál, és a Ronnie James Dio énekessel fémjelzett Black Sabbath-korszakot mutatja be. Az album 16 remasterelt dalt tartalmaz a Heaven and Hell (1980), a Mob Rules (1981) és a Dehumanizer (1992) stúdióalbumokról, valamint a „Children of the Sea” élő változatát a Live Evil (1982) albumról. Emellett három 2007-ben rögzített új dal is hallható rajta: „The Devil Cried”, „Shadow of the Wind” és „Ear in the Wall”. A lemez a Billboard listán az 54. helyezést érte el.
