A Jethro Tull brit rockegyüttes, amelynek zenéje a blues, folk, progresszív rock és klasszikus zene elemeit egyesíti. Az együttes jellegzetessége Ian Anderson frontember egyedi énekstílusa és kifejező fuvolajátéka.
A The Broadsword and the Beast című album 1982 áprilisában jelent meg a Chrysalis kiadónál bakeliten. Az együttes tizennegyedik stúdióalbuma az előző évtized folkos stílusát ötvözi a nyolcvanas évek jellegzetes szintetizátor-hangzásával – az akusztikus hangszereket elektronikus hangképek egészítik ki. A felvétel tíz dalt tartalmaz, a legkiemelkedőbbek közé tartozik a Beastie, a Broadsword és a Fallen on Hard Times. Az albumot 1981 telén vették fel, és a zenekar történetében először külső producer, Paul Samwell-Smith közreműködött.
