A Motörhead egy brit speed metal együttes volt, amelyet 1975-ben alapított Ian „Lemmy” Kilmister basszusgitáros és énekes. A zenekar a brit heavy metal új hullámának úttörőjeként és a későbbi thrash metal egyik forrásaként ismert.
A No Sleep 'til Hammersmith album 1981 júniusában jelent meg a Bronze Records kiadónál, és az együttes első koncertfelvétele. A sikeres év csúcspontját jelentette, amikor a Motörhead brit turnéján 32 koncertet adott mindössze 34 nap alatt — az album címe az egyik tour-buszon lévő feliratot idézi. Az album a brit slágerlista élére került, és máig a zenekar legsikeresebb kiadványa hazájában. Ez a BMG kiadónál megjelent bővített újrakiadás 35 dalt tartalmaz két CD-n, köztük az Ace of Spades, az Overkill, a Bomber és az Iron Horse élő változatait.
Az album megjelenésekor a Motörhead felállását Lemmy Kilmister (basszusgitár, ének), Phil „Philthy Animal” Taylor (dob) és Eddie Clarke (gitár) alkották.
