A Muse egy angol rockegyüttes, amelyet Matt Bellamy (gitár, ének, billentyűk), Dominic Howard (dob) és Christopher Wolstenholme (basszusgitár, háttérvokál) alkot. Zenéjükben az alternatív és progresszív rockot klasszikus zene, elektronika és heavy metal hatásokkal ötvözik, energikus és vizuálisan lenyűgöző élő fellépéseikről ismertek.
Az Absolution 2003 szeptemberében jelent meg a Taste Media kiadónál, és az együttes első albumaként a brit és francia eladási lista élére került. Hangzásában bombasztikus gitárriffek („Stockholm Syndrome”), funkos ritmusok („Time Is Running Out”) és zenekari zongoraátjárók („Butterflies & Hurricanes”) keverednek, szövegvilága a félelmet, bizalmatlanságot és az iraki háború kezdete által ihletett apokaliptikus témákat dolgozza fel. A Time Is Running Out és a Hysteria című slágerek segítették az együttest az amerikai piacon való áttörésben. A megjelenés huszadik évfordulójára 5 CD-n jelenik meg a remasterezett eredeti felvétel, korábban kiadatlan koncert- és demováltozatok, valamint gyűjtői extrák.
