Warren Zevon amerikai rockénekes és dalszerző volt, aki provokatív, fekete humorral és politikai utalásokkal teli szövegeiről vált ismertté. Leghíresebb dalai közé tartozik a Werewolves of London, a Lawyers, Guns and Money és a Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner.
A Stand In The Fire eredetileg 1980-ban jelent meg, és a nyugat-hollywoodi The Roxy Theatre-ben rögzített ötnapos fellépéssorozat során készült 1980 augusztusában. Az album Zevon legnagyobb slágereinek élő verzióit tartalmazza, köztük az Excitable Boy és a Poor, Poor Pitiful Me mellett két új eredeti dalt (Stand in the Fire és The Sin), valamint egy feldolgozást, a Bo Diddley's a Gunslinger című számot.
