Az Afflicted egy Stockholmból származó svéd death metal zenekar volt, amely 1988 és 1995 között működött. Technical death metalt játszott thrash metal és a svéd death metal színtér elemeivel, saját stílusát „Psychodelic Ultraviolent Heavy Grindcore”-ként határozta meg.
A Prodigal Sun album újrakiadásként jelenik meg bakeliten. A felvétel a zenekar jellegzetes hangzását mutatja be — gyors és dühös szakaszok váltakoznak lassabb, súlyosabb pillanatokkal. Az albumon olyan dalok hallhatók, mint a Harbouring the Soul, a Rising To the Sun vagy a The Doomwatcher's Prediction.
