A Jethro Tull 1967-ben alapított brit rockegyüttes, melynek vezéralakja Ian Anderson. A zenekar zenéje a progresszív rock, folk rock és hard rock elemeit ötvözi, jellegzetes fuvolahangzással és Anderson egyedi énekhangjával.
A Bursting Out album 1978 szeptemberében jelent meg az InsideOut Music kiadónál, mint az együttes első dupla koncertalbuma. A felvételeket az 1978. májusi és júniusi Heavy Horses európai turné során több helyszínen rögzítették, többek között a svájci berni Festhalle-ban. A hanganyag újrakeverését Steven Wilson végezte. A háromkorongos CD-kiadás tartalmazza a teljes élő előadást a soundcheck-felvételekkel együtt, újonnan mixelt dalokat, mint például a Thick As A Brick, az Aqualung vagy a Songs From The Wood, valamint az 1978 októberi Madison Square Garden-i fellépés anyagát.
A megjelenés idején az együttes nyolctagú volt. Az albumon közreműködtek Ian Anderson (ének, akusztikus gitár, fuvola, harmonika, mandolin), Martin Barre (elektromos és akusztikus gitár, furulya), John Evan (orgona, zongora, szintetizátor), Barriemore Barlow (dobok), John Glascock (basszusgitár), Dee Palmer (billentyűs hangszerek, szaxofon), Scott Hammond és Tony Williams (basszusgitár).
